India's Impressive Comeback in Women's World Cup

On October 23, Team India achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the semifinals of the Women's World Cup 2025. This victory came after a challenging three-match losing streak, as they triumphed over New Zealand with a 53-run win at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

India set a formidable target by scoring 340 runs for 3 wickets in a rain-shortened match of 49 overs. The team's success was largely attributed to outstanding performances from Pratika Rawal, who scored 122 runs, and Smriti Mandhana, who contributed 109 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues also played a vital role with an unbeaten 77 runs.

In response, New Zealand was limited to 271 runs for 8 wickets in 44 overs, following the DLS method, despite notable half-centuries from Brooke Halliday (81 runs) and Izaballe Gaze (65 not out).

Renuka Thakur emerged as the leading bowler for India, taking 2 wickets for just 25 runs in her six overs, maintaining an economy rate of 4.20. Kranti Gaud also claimed two wickets, conceding 48 runs in nine overs at an economy rate of 5.30. Other bowlers, including Sneh Rana, Shree Charanai, Pratika Rawal, and Deepti Sharma, each contributed with one wicket.
